Foods to Help You Stay Hydrated

The best time of the year is now upon us and as the weather is getting warmer the body loses most of its water supply throughout the day. If you’re like me and like to carry out your workout routine even when it’s warm out, I’m sure you’ll enjoy these tips on how to stay healthy and keep your body water levels up.
The following list includes 5 foods that contain at least 85% of water, making them a great choice for your personal hydration needs.
Pineapple
Water content: 86%
Pineapple is one of the most delicious tropical food out there and offers many significant health benefits. Pineapple is a great source of vitamin C, B vitamins, fiber, and minerals. It also is very versatile as you can have them fresh, can grill its slices and serve them with meat as a tasty side, or you can add frozen chunks into a smoothie.
Honeydew melon
Water content: 90%
This yellow-ish, green-ish fruit is known for its sweetness and resemblance to the cantaloupe. Aside from its flavor, it has various other benefits. Honeydew may help maintain healthy blood pressure levels as it is a low-sodium and potassium-rich fruit.
Zucchini
Water content: 92.73%
Did you know Zucchini, also known as summer squash, originated in the Americas? The reason zucchini is called summer squash is that it hydrates the body and helps it deal with the summer heat. It is not only extremely rich in water but also contains zinc and vitamin C that help promote skin hydration and hair growth.
Fun fact: Mashed zucchini is a perfect addition to your kids’ diet.
Watermelon
Water content: about 91%
Ah, the thoughts of summer barbecues! Watermelons are one of the fruits with the highest water content. Its sweetness is paired with many nutrients including vitamins A, B, C, potassium, and many other minerals.
Cucumber
Water content: about 97%
Cucumbers are a refreshing, nutritious, and incredibly versatile addition to any meal. They are low in calories but contain many important vitamins and minerals. Cucumber water is also a good substitute for drinking plain water.
A quick tip, to maximize the number of nutrients absorbed, try peeling your cucumber before consumption.
